About CertAvert
CertAvert is a small, independent service that watches your SSL/TLS certificates and emails you before they expire or break.
How it started
CertAvert began as a hobby project by someone who works in IT infrastructure, to keep an eye on a handful of certificates. Most certificates renew automatically, but when a renewal fails it usually fails quietly, and the first sign is often an error in a visitor’s browser. Checking from the outside, the way a visitor’s browser connects, catches that.
It kept growing: any port, certificate chain checks, the names on each certificate, TLS versions, DNS and domain registration dates, alerts for a whole team. At some point it was useful enough to open to everyone, and that is what CertAvert is today.
What it does
- Checks your certificates from the public internet twice a day, with nothing to install on your servers.
- Emails you before a certificate expires, and on paid plans when a problem shows up (an untrusted certificate, a broken chain, an unreachable host).
- Offers free tools for a one-off check, no account needed.
It doesn’t monitor uptime or page content, and it doesn’t check revocation. It does one job: your certificates.
Who runs it
CertAvert is independent: no investors and no outside owners. The paid plans pay for running it. It is operated by ILIEV CONSULTING LLC (USA), and payments are handled by Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record.
